Missions

The different services exist with clearly defined specific missions.

  • The Directorate of Judicial Affairs directs the administration of the judiciary, including magistrates, clerks, judicial real estate and all support functions;
  • The Directorate of Prison Administration manages the establishment network. There is currently no social service or out-of-custody care for convicts, in particular in the absence of alternative sentences and structured adjustment measures;
  • The human rights delegation has existed since 2001 and its mission is to promote human rights, on the one hand, by monitoring the compliance of internal texts with international standards relating to human rights, i.e. through direct action: thus a listening service for the protection of children has been set up which, from a free telephone number, allows a child victim to contact a service made up of a lawyer, a doctor, an educator and a psychologist, a service that will guide, assist and take charge of placing the minor under protection;
  • The General Inspectorate is competent exclusively to instruct the overall evaluation of the judicial system in order to draw up a report on its functioning. The General Inspectorate of Judicial Services is also responsible for proposing guidelines for the proper functioning of the judicial system.
